Iris recognition is one of the most popular biometric recognition that has increased in the number of acceptance user gradually because of the reliability and accuracy provided by this system. However, this accuracy is highly correlated with the quality of iris image captured. Thus, a poor quality of the image captured required an enhancement technique. This study aims to identify the optimum window size for the median filter. Identifying the optimum window size setting required template matching value result of the off-angle iris recognition. The lowest value obtained showed that the window size applied was optimized. The result of this study demonstrated, for WVU-OA dataset for 15 degrees off-angle iris of right and left eyes, the window size of [5 5] and [7 7] respectively are optimum to maximize the median filter function. Meanwhile, for 30 degrees off-angle iris of right and left eyes data, the optimum windows size proposed are [7 7] and [5 5] respectively. On the other hand, analysis using UBIRIS dataset showed that the optimum window size for 30 degrees off-angle iris, both right and left eye is [7 7] which is able to maximize the performance of the median filter. In conclusion, the effective value to be applied to all dataset are [5 5] and [7 7] because in most cases it provides a better template matching compared to without applying the filtering method

Requirements analysis is a process of analyzing requirements of various stakeholders that represents a specification of system behaviour that must be stated precisely to proceed to the design phase. It is noted that the current process of requirements analysis is not sufficient to identify and represent the existence of multiple stakeholders which could lead to various conflicts and overlapping requirements. Furthermore, the involvement of various stakeholders normally leads to inconsistencies and misinterpretation of requirements. In this study, the goal modelling representation has been improvised and named as role-based goal modelling. The role-based goal modelling highlights each stakeholder’s role identification in discovering the intentions and requirements of various stakeholders including the integration of data elements in order to determine the dependency of data when dealing with multiple stakeholders. Labour Management System (LMS) owned by Gates IT Solution Sdn Bhd is selected as a case study with participation of different stakeholders. Yet, no standard evaluation method can be used to measure and compare our improved goal modelling with the previous work. Thus, NIMSAD evaluation framework is proposed to compare the effectiveness of our solution with other solutions. In the expected result, this evaluation provides a gap analysis in goal modelling solution. Furthermore, the proposed method could facilitate the process of analyzing and prioritizing requirements from multiple stakeholders in the early stages of the software development process.

The quality of eye image data become degraded particularly when the image is taken in the non-cooperative acquisition environment such as under visible wavelength illumination. Consequently, this environmental condition may lead to noisy eye images, incorrect localization of limbic and pupillary boundaries and eventually degrade the performance of iris recognition system. Hence, this study has compared several segmentation methods to address the abovementioned issues. The results show that Circular Hough transform method is the best segmentation method with the best overall accuracy, error rate and decidability index that more tolerant to ‘noise’ such as reflection

In this paper, we will show the performance based on the impact of continuous practice and exercise in cross-country race. The results show that practices and exercises play important roles to produce better time in the run

Investigation of Attributes that Influence the Insider Trust

    Get PDF
A study of cyber-attack incidents emanating from insiders identifies some characteristic of the malicious user including trust, attack on hardware, software and network, and vulnerabilities of threat. Among the research that has been conducted, insider trust is identified as a critical characteristic where trust of insider is categorized as a major potential to attack system information either high, medium or low risk to access the sensitive document. Trust characteristics is hard to be analyzed due to the different human behaviour. Thus, a survey was conducted that includes hypothesis to support the investigation of insider threat characteristic. To obtain the result of finding prominent insider trust criteria, a regression analysis is used to get the actual value. A survey has been distributed to multiple user roles of three systems namely e-Plantation System (ePS), eCampus System (eCampus) and Human Resources Management System (eHRMS). The outcome of this study demonstrates that skill and experience are two prominent factors that mainly influence the characteristic of insider trust

The sea is essential to life on earth, including regulating the climate, producing oxygen, providing medicines, providing habitats for marine animals, and feeding millions of people. It must be ensured that the sea continues to meet the needs of life without sacrificing the people of future generations. The sea regulates the planet’s climate and is a significant source of nutrients. The sea becomes an essential part of global commerce, while the contents of the ocean become the solution of human energy needs today and the future. The wealth and potential of the sea as a source of energy for humans today and the future needs to be mapped and described to provide a picture of marine potential to all concerned. As part of the government, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is responsible for the process of formulating, determining, and implementing policies in the field of marine and fisheries based on the results of mapping and extracting information from existing conditions. The results of this information can be used to predict the marine potential in a marine area. This prediction process can be developed using data-mining techniques such as applying the association rule by looking at the relationship between the quantity of fish based on the plankton abundance index. However, this association rules data-mining techniques that require complete data, which are data sets with no missing values to generate interesting rules for detection systems. The problem is often that required marine data are not available or that marine data are available, but they contain incomplete data. To address this problem, this paper introduces a Relative Tolerance Relation of Rough Set (RTRS). Novelty RTRS differs from previous rough approaches that use tolerance relationships, nonsymmetric equation relationships, and limited tolerance relationships. The RTRS approach is based on a limited tolerance relationship considering the relative precision between two objects; therefore, this is the first job to use relative precision. In addition, this paper presents the mathematical approach of the RTRS and compares it with other existing approaches using the marine real dataset to classify the marine potential level of the region. The results show that the proposed approach is better than the existing approach in terms of accuracy

Overview of Multiobjective Optimization Methods in in Silico Metabolic Engineering

    Get PDF
Multiobjective optimization requires of finding a trade-off between multiple objectives. However, most of the objectives are contradict towards each other, thus makes it difficult for the traditional approaches to find a solution that satisfies all objectives. Fortunately, the problems are able to solve by the aid of Pareto methods. Meanwhile, in in silico Metabolic Engineering, the identification of reaction knockout strategies that produce mutant strains with a permissible growth rate and product rate of desired metabolites is still hindered. Previously, Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) has been successfully used in determining the reaction knockout strategies. Nevertheless, most methods work by optimizing one objective function, which is growth rate or production rate. Furthermore, in bioprocesses, it involves multiple and conflicting objectives. In this review, we aim to show the different multiobjective evolutionary optimization methods developed for tackling the multiple and conflicting objectives in in silico metabolic engineering, as well as the approaches in multiobjective optimization

Internet has become the best source for the travellers for searching the lowest rates of hotel rooms and they are more preferred to use third party hotel booking websites to book hotel rather than using the hotel websites. This is due to third party hotel booking website can provide price and hotel’s condition comparison across multiple hotel for the customers. Since the issues of website’s qualityare critical in designing commercial websites, this research is to evaluate the third party hotel booking website that provides the important criteria and has best performance. Various web diagnostic tools are used in order to collect the primary data based on the identified criteria. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach is used to rank the results, based on the score achieved. It shows that the criterion of design optimisationis important in developing website and Booking.comis the best performance among third party hotel booking website. Thus, the website developer of third party hotel booking agent should more focus on the criterion of design optimisation when create their business website
